This piece was made from two identical solid brass components which for a 13” ø tetrahedron when fit together. The components were folded (with much effort) along score lines to emphasize their connectedness.


This is the unfolded net for one component. The other half is its reflection.

There are two different shapes that make up this piece.

The white lines here make it more obvious what those shapes are.

You can also see how the two shapes fit together to form a triangle.
This is “iteration one” of a triangle-based surface-tiling curve, which is arguably not an iteration. However, with the sharp increase in complexity as the iterations progress, physical materials start to get flimsy. The structure supports itself well and is displayed offset with a small wooden base which allows for interior viewing.
